Friday, December 4th, 2009 by

SUSF_give_ideas_exlaxThis past Wednesday night, GoGrid was the host of another StartUp SF (along with co-host Microsoft BizSpark of which we are a Hosting Partner). The guest speaker was David Weekly, founder of PBWorks, a client of GoGrid & ServePath. StartUp SF is a regular meetup in San Francisco designed to help young businesses become more successful. Each meetup has a format designed to stimulate, engage and network in a social learning environment. Each event has a guest speaker who talks about expert subject matter and how it relates to helping startups. Also, successful companies showcase their products and services in an interactive manner with product demos occurring throughout the event.

Full details from the 12/02/09 event are on the StartUp SF page.

Come Hear David Weekly (PBWorks/Hacker Dojo) at StartUp SF on December 2nd

Thursday, November 19th, 2009 by

I’m pleased to announce that we have a new StartUp SF (version 2.2) coming on Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009. This event is just around the corner (I’m just so “good” about planning in advance) so be sure that you register now and share this event with your friends and co-workers.

For your learning pleasure, we have none other than David Weekly, founder of PBWorks (“online collaboration that just works” – formerly PBWiki) and Founding Director of Hacker Dojo (a community center for hackers & thinkers to meet, discuss, learn and create).

David’s presentation is titled “Give Your Ideas Ex-Lax“. Just the title alone is intriguing! He describes the theme as “you should find an uncomfortably quick way to launch your idea and iterate on it instead of building grand designs.

Ticket are now on-sale! Scroll down for info and GoGrid blog readers get a special discount.

Date: Wednesday, December 2nd
Time: 6-9pm
Location: Microsoft, 835 Market Street, Suite 700, San Francisco, CA 94103
Cost: $10 (online) or $20 (at the door)

As with every StartUp SF, our goal is to help startups begin, grow and become successful. The format is simple, for an hour, you network with technology peers, entrepreneurs, VCs, and other like-minded professionals, then you hear short “elevator pitches” from a few select Demo Companies. After the pitches, a Guest Speaker gives you first-hand experience on the Do’s and Don’ts of kick-starting your startup. Once the speaker has finished, there is a Question & Answer session and then more time for networking. We provide food, drink and engaging conversation.

GoGrid at TechCrunch 50, Helping Startups

Sunday, September 7th, 2008 by

From Monday through Wednesday (Sept 8-10), GoGrid will be an exhibitor at TechCrunch 50. The TechCrunch Expo was started last year with a simple goal: “find the best start-ups and launch them in front of our industry‚Äôs most influential VCs, corporations, fellow entrepreneurs and press.” This is an event where 50 start-ups are launched into stardom. There is also a “DemoPit” where 100 early stage startups are introduced to the public.

We have always felt that it is important to give startups an opportunity to succeed by allowing them to focus on their business and not their hosting. GoGrid is great for startups for so many reasons: usage-based billing, scalability, free support, and the on-demand nature of requisitioning and provisioning hardware in real-time. Furthering our commitment to startups, GoGrid (and ServePath) also host a not-for-profit meetup in San Francisco called StartUp SF. This event is designed to provide people who are engaged in initial stages of a startup, thinking about launching a new company or just excited to exchange ideas with like-minded professionals, with tactics and strategies to head down the road of success. We will be having the StartUp SF (v1.3) meetup at the conclusion of TechCrunch 50 from 6-9pm (just at the right time to have some food and drinks and hear some design team strategy tips from guest speaker, Scott Nazarian, from the premier design shop, frog design).

For those who want to follow the action of TechCrunch 50, uStream has provided a live feed of the event (shown below):

Hope to see some of you at the TC50 event! Drop by our booth and come to StartUp SF after TC50 on Wednesday night after the event.
