Tuesday, April 29th, 2008 by

If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area tomorrow (April 30th) we hope that you can attend StartUp SF, a meetup designed to help you “kickstart your startup.”

Speaker and Demo tables

Jonathan Cobb – Founder/CTO of Kiptronic (

Topic – “Genesis of a Startup: from Concept to Company”

  • Early Validation — Before you start in earnest, you might wonder — What makes a good idea? Is yours worth pursuing? How do you size your opportunity?
  • Covering the Basics — A handful of best-practices recommendations for general company administration: corporate formation, capital structure, legal, accounting, etc.
  • Building the Core Team — How do you attract talent at this very early stage? What kinds of players will you need pre-funding? Post-funding?
  • Market Validation — How do you execute to prove you have a winning idea? What milestones make sense for your business?
  • Fund Raising — When should you raise money? Who should be your target funding sources? How much should you raise? What are common investment terms?

Demo table companies: Triggit, Askpedia and MotivePath. Also come see a demo of GoGrid, a definite “must have” for any startup.

GoGrid "Stunts" @ Web 2.0 Expo

Monday, April 28th, 2008 by

Last Friday, we wrapped up our exhibit at the Web2.0Expo in San Francisco. For being a late Expo entrant, we have had a resounding success, with some people saying that GoGrid was among the “best at the show.” Not bad for signing up on the Friday before and having our booth together on Tuesday. We also tried to think creatively and do some “stunts” that were a bit out-side the box.

Here’s a photo-rundown of a few of the “stunts” we did:

Giving Away “Free” Servers

Since we are a 7-year old Internet hosting provider, GoGrid almost competes against our own parent company, ServePath. So, we took a stack of our old rack-mount servers and hand-drew a sign that said “Free Servers, they are useless now that GoGrid is live.”

This generated a bunch of questions and at the end of the show, a few of the servers “walked out the door.” People loved the concept and couldn’t believe that we would be giving them away. (We also gave away $99 promo codes for GoGrid!)

Introducing StartUp SF – San Francisco’s newest Technology MeetUp

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008 by

StartUp SF LogoServePath, the people who bring you GoGrid, is pleased to announce the latest and greatest meetup in the San Francisco Bay Area: StartUp SF. As regular attendees of meetups around the Bay Area, we have experienced first-hand what we think works and what people are looking for, so we have partnered with Orrick to bring you a new technology meetup, specifically designed to help “kickstart your startup!”

The format for this meetup is simple. Socialize, hear how other successful companies got that way, see demos of products, meet with venture capitalists, and generally have a good time.

You and your technology friends are cordially invited to inaugurate the StartUp SF Meetup on Wednesday April 30th, 6 to 9PM at the spectacular offices of Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe, 405 Howard Street, San Francisco.

GoGrid Demo at the next SF New Tech

Thursday, March 6th, 2008 by

A “world premier” event has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the SF New Tech meetup. The first public demo of GoGrid will be taking place at the Mighty. Come join ServePath in the first public demo of our revolutionary new hosting product, namely GoGrid!

gogridloginCome to SF New Tech on March 12th and see what is behind the login screen!

This Meetup is at the Mighty (located at 119 Utah @ 15th Street in San Francisco). Date & Time: Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 @ 6:30pm.

Watch Paul Lancaster (Business Development Manager) and Paul Lappas (VP of Engineering) showcase how a new Windows or Linux application/web server or database server can be created and deployed within minutes. Also learn how to quickly load-balance servers, all within a slick browser-based UI.

While GoGrid will only be publicly demo-ed for 5 minutes (the limits imposed by the SF New Tech rules and guidelines), ServePath employees will be on-hand to answer questions before, during and after the demo. We encourage you to attend the event and come prepared with your questions.

Hope to see you there!
