Right on the heels of the GoGrid 3.0 release, we needed to be sure that we didn’t slow our momentum down. To that end, this week we have released some new features to GoGrid which are important to highlight.

UPGRADE_sticky

We have 3 exciting features, specifically:

  • East Coast Load Balancers
  • New GoGrid Dedicated Server Images
  • 16 GB RAM on GoGrid Cloud Servers

East Coast Load Balancers

As we work towards obtaining full feature parity within a few months in our East Coast Datacenter launch, one of the first items that we enabled was that of Load Balancing. Just like in the West Coast Datacenter, Load Balancing on the East Coast remains FREE. With the rollout of Load Balancers in the East Coast, all GoGrid users now have the ability to deploy 6 total Load Balancers for free, 3 in each Datacenter.

Today, the team at GoGrid is pleased to announce several new enhancements and features to our Cloud Infrastructure Hosting service. With us, it is all about trying to make our Cloud offering as powerful as possible. To that end, we have released our latest version of GoGrid, available now! Some highlights include (each of which I will go into further details later on in this post):

  • List View of GoGrid Objects
  • Edit f5 Load Balancers

GoGrid Dedicated Servers

Let’s face it, we have been doing dedicated hosting for over 8 years so we do know a little bit about it. Last year, we introduced a first-to-market service that we internally called “Hybrid Hosting” which allowed users to connect GoGrid cloud infrastructure with a separate dedicated infrastructure, all within a private network. This proved to be incredibly successful, and something that many of our customers had desired. So, we decided to take it to the next level by offering Dedicated Servers within the GoGrid infrastructure.

As you probably know by now, GoGrid released a series of new enhancements to our Cloud Computing Infrastructure Hosting service. You can read more about what was included in this latest release in this blog post. Some of the highlighted new features and improvements include:

  • GoGrid Dedicated Servers
  • List View of GoGrid Objects
  • Edit f5 Load Balancers
  • New Login Page
  • Self-Service Support Links

We also sent out a newsletter highlighting some of the changes in the January/February 2010 timeframe.

As with previous releases, I wanted to spend some time with our VP of Products, Mario Olivarez, and discuss some of these items and what they mean to GoGrid customers. (YouTube direct link.)

This video is also available on the GoGrid Facebook page as well as our GoGrid YouTube Channel.

As always, if you have any questions about any of the items you heard in this video or about GoGrid in general, please leave a comment on this post or ask us on Twitter (@GoGrid). Stay tuned for more updates and videos.

We are polishing up some great enhancements to GoGrid and the results of our efforts will be live shortly. To that end, please be notified that we are performing Scheduled Maintenance in order to roll out new functionality and features which does require some downtime of the GoGrid Portal. This information has already been delivered to existing GoGrid customers via email and is also available on the GoGrid Status Blog.

Last week, I published the November 2009 GoGrid Customer Update newsletter on the GoGrid blog. In it, I highlighted the important changes that were included in the recent deployment of GoGrid, including our new GoGrid CDN, the GoGrid Exchange, new RAM Hour & Bandwidth plans, new Windows Server base images and some other items.

To follow up with that newsletter, which was sent to GoGrid customers by Mario Olivarez (VP of Products), I thought that it would be useful for those interested in GoGrid to learn a bit more. So, I spent a few minutes interviewing Mario about these recent changes and what they mean to our customers.

This video is also available on the GoGrid Facebook page as well as our GoGrid YouTube Channel.

If you have any questions about what you heard or saw on the video or GoGrid in general, please leave a comment on this post or ask us on Twitter (@GoGrid). Stay tuned for more updates and videos coming your way.

The GoGrid newsletter went out today. Unfortunately, if you are not already a GoGrid customer, you didn’t receive it…until now! There are a lot of exciting items covered here (a few of which you already know if you subscribe to this blog’s RSS feed including the Edit, Delete and Restore function of MyGSIs). If you aren’t already a GoGrid user, I recommend that you sign up (and here is a quick hint, if you want a $100 GoGrid credit on new account, contact a GoGrid Sales Rep and they can consult with you on your best options for the Cloud).

Last week we at GoGrid officially announced that we had removed the Beta label from our core product. I was excited to receive a screenshot from an acquaintance showing how this announcement made the front page of Google News.

GoGrid_on_google_news

I hope that you have spent some time reviewing some of the new and updated features that were part of the GoGrid 2.0 announcement as well as the Out of Beta announcement including private server images (known as MyGSIs), 99.99% Uptime since the beginning of Q2 2009, and improved server deployment times, to name a few.

If you are already a regular GoGrid user, I would love to hear what you think about the MyGSI feature. Leave me a comment on this post, or send a Tweet to @GoGrid, @HighTechDad or @PaulLancaster. If you are new to GoGrid or Cloud Computing, I recommend that you contact one of the GoGrid Sales Specialists who can help further explain many of the standard and new features of the GoGrid Cloud. (Here’s a hint, the Specialists can give you a free trial for a new account on GoGrid with no risk involved! Just contact them via a Call, Email or Live Chat.)

Keep spreading the word about GoGrid and become a Fan of us on Facebook (use the new widget located on the GoGrid blog)!

Many GoGrid users may have noticed a new tab that has appeared within the GoGrid Web Interface. The new "Jobs" tab is a great new addition for those who want details on any action or activity that has taken place on an object (e.g., Server, Load Balancer, Cloud Storage) within their GoGrid account.

jobs_tab_highlight

Think of this new section as your GoGrid log file. It keeps track of actions that you have made on objects in your account, broken down chronologically. In fact, since we have been keeping an internal log for some time, many of your older activities prior to the release of this feature will show up in your log. Also, if you use the GoGrid API, any requests made through the API show up in the Job section as well.

GoGrid actions that are currently tracked are:

  • Add Server
  • Delete Server
  • Restart Server
  • Add Load Balancer
  • Delete Load Balancer
  • Add Cloud Storage

All actions are also logged with the following information:

  • Date & Time (UTC timestamp – a good time converter can be found here)
  • Action Details
  • Action Status
  • User that requested the action
