GoGrid’s Cloud Expo Europe Debut Highlighted by Successful European Launch

Monday, February 6th, 2012 by

Cloud Expo Europe 2012 is now over, and according to everyone we spoke to, it was an unqualified success. As I mentioned in my last post, GoGrid was proud to announce the opening of its new Amsterdam-based European HQ and data center at the show. The recurring themes we heard included cloud security, the evolution of cloud services, the desire for more cloud education, and where the market is going next. A common theme from visitors to our booth was hybrid hosting and how to secure a business’s cloud infrastructure. They were also very interested in hearing about the success EMEA customers like Condé Nast are having using GoGrid.

Here are some photo highlights of the show:

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 by

It’s exciting times at GoGrid this week as we announce another milestone in our company’s history—the opening of our European Headquarters. GoGrid AMS BV is located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and will provide our customers with fully integrated, on-demand, global cloud infrastructure services through any of GoGrid’s data centers, including our new Amsterdam location as well as San Francisco, CA, and Ashburn, VA.

Why now? Why Amsterdam?

The appetite for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is rapidly growing worldwide. With Gartner predicting that the IaaS market will soon account for a quarter of the overall hosting department, the opportunity seemed ripe to take the next step in our continued global expansion. Amsterdam was the perfect choice when looking to set up our HQ thanks to its central geographic location, which makes it attractive to businesses operating or looking to operate within the EU, as well as its rich infrastructure, its reputation as a high-tech center, and its talented workforce.

Presentation Title: “What it Takes to build a Leading Public Cloud”
Topic Details:

Being a cutting-edge cloud provider has enabled GoGrid to learn the nuances of being a profitable public cloud provider while also passing on cost-savings to its customers. However, there are many cloud vendors who are struggling to survive while providing innovative solutions to their customers. What makes one company more successful than others? And how does this translate to cost-savings to the cloud consumer? Are vendors passing on efficiencies to their end-users so that they can capitalize on the benefits of moving entire infrastructures to the cloud? How are cloud providers innovating internally to invest in their cloud growth and adoption strategies?
